The greatest grief? It might just be the moment we’re born—when we leave behind the rhythm of our mother’s heartbeat and are thrust into a world of separation. But here’s the twist: that rhythm never really left us. It’s closer than our next breath.

In New Beginnings, We Thank You, I offered this invitation—to feel for that hidden heartbeat, that inner drum, pulsing with divine intelligence and always available. Whether we’re preparing for a rock concert, a board retreat, or just navigating a chaotic week (all of which hit me in one go), the medicine is the same. Tune in. Breathe. Feel. You are the medicine.

Gratitude brings us back home.

It was Thanksgiving Sunday, but I’m a firm believer that we can practice gratitude any day, every day. For your heartbeat. For your breath. For the well-worn stool (or drum throne!) that’s held you through life’s rhythms. For your quirks and capacities. For the gift of simply being alive.

One of my core practices? Daily gratitude that includes something I appreciate about myself. Because when I fill up on self-love, I’ve got love to give—freely and fully. And from that place, we stop searching for belonging and start beingĀ home. šŸ’“

So I'm asking you:

ā—Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  What has always been there for you?

ā—Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  What can you be thankful for right now?

ā—Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Are you ready to hear your inner drum?

Let it anchor you. Let it move you. Let it remind you: you never really left home.

This reflection is inspired by the message shared in ā€œNew Beginnings, We Thank You,ā€ delivered in Nanaimo, British Columbia, on October 13, 2024.
