Monthly Connection May 2009
A Unified Unity Movement
The Association of Unity Churches International and Unity School are working cooperatively to create a unified presence for our Unity movement. This is leading to number of changes and initiatives including:
• A new joint website is now up and running at www.unity.org
• National marketing plan to put Unity message out in positive, unified way
• Unified fundraising strategy – Unity School, Association, churches
• Developing common vision statement – currently considering “Spirituality for an Awakening World”
• New building for Association at Unity Village (this is 100% funded by an individual donor)
Thriving in Unity
Last month we reported that there were over 200 Unity churches participating in the Thriving in Unity program. This program is still available through the Association, and they are developing a
Thriving in Unity 2.0 which will be available in September. Those
who will have all 12 Thriving in Unity benchmarks complete by June, and
are interested in “a full throttle leap” forward into a new paradigm
for ministry, might consider applying for The Transformation
Experience. For more information, see
www.TheTransformationExperience.org. Please note: this program
requires a commitment to tithe 10% of churches income to AUCI. AUCI is
aware that this is not allowable under Canadian law, and is willing to
work out an arrangement that complies with our laws. If you are
interested in this program, please apply.
AUCC’s 2009 AGM and AUCI’s 2009 People’s Convention
The Association of Unity Churches Canada 2009 Annual General Meeting
will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel 10100 College Boulevard, Overland
Park, Kansas, USA, 66210-1462 on Monday June 8th from 9 – Noon. All
Canadian Unity Centres are invited to bring two (2) official delegates
and unlimited unofficial attendees. Travel and accommodation grants for
Sunday and Monday nights may be available for the official delegates.
This year we are holding our AGM just before the International
Convention and we invite everyone who would like to attend to register
for the International Convention as well which begins with the
Prosperity Summit on Monday afternoon from 2-5:30 pm. Go to the
wonderful new unity.org website for convention information and
registration. Registration forms for the Canadian AGM will be sent out
in the spring. For hotel reservations call 1.800.222.TREE (8733) and
ask for reservations, be sure to let them know you are with the Unity
People’s Convention. Please pass this on to your church leaders and
start making your
reservations!
411/911
Please consider your Regional Representative, Rev. Cynthia
Vermillion-Foster as your 411 call for any ministry related
questions/concerns. She serves in a liaison role between Unity Canada
and Unity International, and is available to assist you in talking
through challenges, asking procedural questions, setting you up with a
mentor, or connecting you with support services that can assist you in
your ministry. These 411 calls can assist you in staying connected
with the greater Unity movement, and providing you with a network of
support – and they can help keep you or your ministry from entering a
911 situation. If you do find yourself in a 911 situation, Rev.
Cynthia would also be your first point of contact for support and
assistance.
SEE Changes
Unity School is continuing to refine and develop its SEE program
which has resulted in some recent changes. Most notable is that an
online test will be required for any SEE Required Classes that are
taken in the field. LUTs or Ministers offering these classes should
contact Lisa Earl (

, 816-251-3535, ext. 2060) and
request a course curriculum. Upon completion of the class, students
should then go to unity.org to complete the test.
Unity School also offers a number of classes online. The fees for
these classes are offered at an even rate of exchange for Canadians.
We request that cheques for online classes be made out to your
ministry, and that the ministry then sends a cheque to Unity School.
Alternative Judicatory Representative
Rev. Pat Ball has agreed to serve as the Alternative Judicatory
Representative for Canada. Thank you Pat for your willingness to serve.
LUT Representative
Last month, we announced that Bill Karr had been appointed to serve
as the LUT Representative of Canada. This was an interim appointment
to fill a vacancy. Bill we be standing for election to this position
at our AGM in June. We would also like to elect an alternate for this
position at this AGM. Any LUTs interested in serving as alternate
should contact a board member.
